Manitoba Memories

I've been thoroughly enjoying my tour in Manitoba this summer and it's always fun playing at a new venue. My July started off at the classic "Wigwam" Restaurant at Clear Lake in Riding Mountain National Park. The Neighbourhood Bookstore & Cafe in Winnipeg was a cozy refuge on a rainy night where Oreo Cheesecake appeared to be the popular item of the night. Sam's Place in Winnipeg has the friendliest staff and I appreciated the applause from the kitchen. A highlight was playing at the Winnipeg Fringe Festival at "The Cube," in the Old Market Square, the core of Winnipeg's historic exchange district. I sat in awe the day before at the Fringe, taking in the set by "Slow Leaves," the recording name of Winnipeg's own Grant Davidson. Love his music! Farmhouse Bistro and Tavern was my next stop in Virden where I was treated like family. If you've never been there before, you are missing out on a fantastic venue just off the #1 Hwy: awesome food, farmhouse atmosphere & down-to-earth people! I'll be back at the Wigwam at Clear Lake in August and then will finish off at my favourite summer place, the Sandy Lake Hotel for their 14th Anniversary. Thanks Manitoba!
