I took the beauty of the prairie sunset where I live in Saskatchewan, to symbolize hope, strength and resilience for a particular person I know that embodies these traits as she was fighting through a challenging time in her life.

Lyrics

Sunset - Katie Miller © 2016

He left me like a sunset on the prairie
A burning blaze of glory leaving me wanting more
He went without warning
I didn’t see it coming
Colors are fading, oh I’m feeling cold

I’m not gonna give up, that would be too easy
I’m not gonna try to, understand why

I will wait for the sun to rise again
I will wait for that glow to return
I will wait for the sun to rise above me

I’ll always remember that day in November
And holding it together at least on the outside
I’m still haunted by
That illuminated sky
It burns right through my eyes, oh it’s taking me down.

I’m not gonna give up, that would be too easy
I’m not gonna try to, understand why, so

I will wait for the sun to rise again
I will wait for that glow to return
I will wait for the sun to rise above me

People do change but old habits do remain
That can dig up the pain that’s been buried deep inside
I’ll keep on learning, I’ll keep on dreaming
I’ll keep on believing, that it’s all worth it

I’m not gonna give up, that would be too easy
I’m not gonna try to, understand why, so

I will wait for the sun to rise again
I will wait for that glow to return
I will wait for the sun to rise above me
